AVT delivers All About Shoes for the Bata Shoe Museum TORONTO, August 3, 2005 – Collaborating yet again with the Bata Shoe Museum, Advanced Visualization Technologies (AVT) Financed by the Canadian Culture Online Partnerships Fund Using AVT technology designed specifically for the Museum, All About Shoes offers digital content aimed at enhancing knowledge of Canadian cultural diversity. All About Shoes contains 500 images of which 200 are in 3D. The online exhibition features stories and artifacts, based on the Museum’s existing collection, that focus on the footwear traditions of Aboriginal groups and Canada’s multicultural communities. Specifically, 5 exhibitions will launch on June 29, including Paths Across the Plains: Traditional Footwear from the Great Plains, Mobility: Footwear Around the World, Appeasing the Spirits: Alaskan Coastal Cultures, Heights of Fashion: A History of the Elevated Foot, and Paduka: Feet and Footwear in the Indian Tradition. Another three will launch August 2006, including What’s Their Line?: Shoes that Work, Footsteps of the Sacred Earth: Native Peoples of the Southwest, , and Japanese Footgear: Walking the Path of Innovation. Advanced Visualization Technologies creates an enhanced, interactive user experience for online audiences.
